In late August, we teamed up with The Neighborhood Developers to host a backpack drive in Revere, MA. The event was hosted in the backyard community space of a 30-unit apartment building for low-income residents.

We know that school supplies are costly. Shopping for notebooks and rulers and folders can be time-consuming and stressful for working parents. To help alleviate some of that stress, we asked Ben & Jerry’s to serve up tasty ice cream, ordered pizza from Bertucci’s, and handed out some cool Starry-branded backpacks. On top of that, residents in this building can subscribe to Starry Connect, our low-cost, 30mbps plan for $15 per month. Students need internet access to learn, and families shouldn’t be left with a bill that breaks the household budget.

All-in-all, we gave out 36 backpacks to students aged 3-18, stuffed with supplies specific to each grade. Thank you to The Neighborhood Developers for allowing us to participate!
