Did you ever wonder what it is like for a magician like Houdini or any escape artist to hang upside down a hundred and fifty feet in the air? What about from a burning rope? How about adding - while you are strapped in a strait jacket?

I hope that you would find the strait jacket escape, daring, fascinating, entertaining and of course magical. Actually, it kind of makes you dizzy. Maybe you are a professional magician interested in adding escapes to your magic act, or perhaps you are the next Houdini. The Great Escape: A Lesson in Escapology

Hi, I'm Magician / Escape Artist and Entertainer Ace Starry, one of only a handful in the world which has attempted this dangerous illusion (according to a poll in a magic news group). In fact I have successfully performed it on nine occasions. This is one magic trick that the great Houdini never attempted because he felt it was too dangerous. I have heard of a magician / escape artist in Florida, who a while back, attempted it, and fell to the pavement crushing many bones. Another more recently caught himself on fire. I didn't know either person, and can't really offer any comments on their performances. I am glad to say that after a long recuperation that the magician who fell is doing okay. He could have easily been killed. I too, took my life into my own hands as I was dragged skyward helplessly hanging by the ankles. It was a stunt that I will not repeat now that I am a little older and wiser. So the only opportunity you will get to see it is within these images.

However, remember that this stunt is not to be taken lightly You may think it is only a trick, but it is verydangerous..I spent years preparing and practicing before I actually attempted the real thing. It should only ever be attempted by professionals with professional instruction.
