Working At A Magic Shop
Over the years I have had the good fortune as a
magician of finding jobs at two different magic shops. You may ask
yourself, "How do you get a job like that?" Answer: "You
must ask?" You will of course have to show them your stuff.
There are quite a few magic shops around the country now. If you
are a decent magician, or even just beginning in magic, a magic
shop is a quick way to become a real pro. So, if your lucky enough
to be in a city that can support a magic shop, try to get a job
there. You can't find a better place to hone your skills. Magic
shops give you the rare opportunity for a magician to learn and
earn, because the owner of the store wants you to be able to demo
any new tricks which come in. That means you have to learn and
practice constantly.
I worked for a year in a magician's shop in
Boise, Idaho called MAGIC & STUFF. Most shops have "stuff"
along with magic. That includes costumes and novelties such as
rubber barf and farting cushions. Those gags used to be a gas!
However, I no longer need a farting cushion. My love for Mexican
food seems to have taken care of that for me. LOL
The second magician's shop I worked at was a
costume and novelty store in Houston, Texas called JUST FOR
LAUGHS. Here are a few pictures from my days behind a magic store
counter. |
